In a significant move to promote the growth of table volleyball in China, Mr. Istvan Dobrei, Secretary General of the International Table Volleyball Federation (ITVF), met with Mr. Wang Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shandong Sport University, to formalize a strategic partnership. The agreement includes the development of specialized academic courses and structured training programs aimed at cultivating the next generation of table volleyball players and coaches.

Shandong Sport University, a leading institution in sports science and athletic development, is now set to play a key role in the academic and professional expansion of table volleyball. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to innovation in sports education and to the development of inclusive, modern disciplines that resonate with youth and communities alike.

“This partnership is a milestone in our efforts to establish table volleyball as a dynamic and accessible sport across China,” said Mr. Dobrei. “By working closely with Shandong Sport University, we are creating a solid platform for both education and high-performance training.”

The agreement will see table volleyball integrated into university programs through curriculum development, research opportunities, and the establishment of dedicated training initiatives. It will also support the education of future coaches and sports professionals who will drive the sport’s growth at grassroots and elite levels.

This partnership adds to ITVF’s growing presence in China, following recent agreements with Capital University of Physical Education and Sport (CUPES) and the National Youth Sports Federation. With growing enthusiasm and institutional support, table volleyball is steadily gaining momentum as one of the most inclusive and exciting new sports on the global stage.
